Build a racing game inspired by Ignition (1997): angled top-down camera, arcade-leaning physics, vehicles with very distinct personalities. It must be an original game: original name, original track, no original assets.
Stack: Vite + TypeScript (strict), Three.js, HUD in plain DOM/CSS. Low-poly graphics generated in code, no external models or textures. Custom simplified 2.5D physics, no physics engine.
Architecture: fixed-timestep game loop. Vehicles are data-driven (mass, power, top speed, grip, steering, collision resistance, boost strength/duration/recharge), one Vehicle class. Player and AI share one control interface. Track is data: centerline spline + width + zones (ice, shortcut, obstacle).
Vehicles (original names): a heavy 90s police sedan, a fast muscle convertible that oversteers, a slow red monster truck that rams everything, a swaying postal van. All four playable and competitive.
Boost: charges 0 to 100%, usable only at 100%, then resets. Unique per vehicle. AI uses it sensibly.
Track: a Canadian-feel mountain town in spring thaw, 60 to 90 s laps, waterfall, wooden bridge, railroad crossing with a periodic train (knockback, not game over), ice patches, one risky shortcut. If any vehicle is stuck over ~4 s, return it to the last checkpoint.
Gameplay: 3 laps, 3-2-1 countdown, AI on waypoints with light rubber-banding, sliding purely from physics, camera at ~50 degrees with look-ahead. Screens: start, vehicle select with stat bars, race, results, restart.
HUD: position, lap, lap time, best lap, minimap, boost meter styled as a car battery that fills red to yellow to green and pulses when ready.
Out of scope: sound, options, more tracks, multiplayer, saves.
Workflow: propose a plan and file structure first, then build in stages, running npm run build after each. Add Vitest tests for physics, boost logic and lap/position logic. Write a README.
Done when: npm install && npm run dev launches it, any of the 4 vehicles can finish 3 laps against 3 bots, each handles and boosts differently, train and ice work, results are correct, stable 60 FPS on an average laptop.
